We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the effort to support Debbie.  Whether you participated in the ride itself, forwarded a contribution to the effort or worked the event, your support and compassion meant a lot to Debbie.  If you missed the ride and still want to contribute, we will leave the additional donation form active on the site for a couple of weeks.

Once again, our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the effort.

Debbie Briscoe

Debbie Briscoe of Brentwood NH named 2008 NHHC Horse Person of the Year.

Debbie has brought volunteerism to a new level with her non stop energy level and commitment to improve trails and communication among trail groups. Marilyn Stuller, Vice President of the NHHC presented the award at the 2009 Farm & Forest Annual Awards Ceremony and Breakfast held on February 7, 2009.

She has been a fixture on the NH horse scene beginning with her early years attending trail rides and shows with her parents, Rusty and Lois Briscoe.  Winning the honor of Derry Trail Riders Teen Queen (and we won’t tell you when !! ) Debbie went on to combine her love of all things horses with pro-active public work to help advance the cause of opening and maintaining a viable trail system in New Hampshire.  As Trails Liaison with New Hampshire Horse Council, Debbie has remained active watching out for our interests and safe guarding our trails.   Many equestrians know Debbie as an able instructor, capitalizing on her years advancing through the ranks in 4 -H.   Since October of 2009, she has been fighting breast cancer.  As of June 2010, chemo treatments have been completed and it has been determined that radiation therapy will hopefully,  not be necessary.   Our goal is to be able to provide some financial support through the vehicle of this website and a Benefit Trail Ride.

Helping a friend in need ...

This website and the Benefit Trail Ride are a joint effort of the Derry Trail Riders and Rockingham Riding Club to support our friend Debbie Briscoe in her fight with breast cancer.

Breast Cancer... The very words will strike terror into the hearts of even the strongest of women.  Acknowledging and accepting it is difficult and even more difficult is the road traveled while fighting it.

Debbie Briscoe has been on this road now since October 2009.

The emotional, physical and financial strain is enormous.  When you are out of work and watching your finances dwindle, worrying about maintaining a household, feeding a horse, paying bills, etc., can take energy away from the physical process of recovery.  Debbie still has a long road to travel to recovery.   Debbie’s friends have stepped up and are doing what they can to support her.

We all lead busy lives, rushing from one venture to another.  It is sometimes hard to do the things that we know we should, so we are hoping to make it easy for you to aid a friend in need.

Funds can be transferred to Debbie through a special account set up with the Derry Trail Riders.  Please forward checks or money orders made out to Deborah Briscoe or to Derry Trail Riders, c/o our President, Julia Webb at 620 Fremont Rd., Chester, NH 03038

100 % of the entry fees collected will go towards supporting Debbie in her fight.  Please join us for a great day of friendship and trail riding.  Donations in addition to the entry fee will be gratefully accepted.
